Earlier This year, Namaka Subsea engaged with an established diving contractor who had been awarded their first major offshore project, which included the removal and installation of two subsea flexible hoses and a control umbilical.
The 6-week project saw the Company appoint Alan Melia, Subsea Technical Authority, on behalf of the diving contractor. As the projects’ Subsea Technical Authority, Alan and his team of 6 personnel provided technical and operational support throughout.
During the project execution phase, Namaka Subsea ensured that all project documentation was kept up to date, while ensuring operations were carried out safely and on schedule as well as being in line with current legislation and industry guidelines, as set out by the regulator and the trade industry bodies.
Sandy Harper, Director of Namaka Subsea, said, “Since Alan joined the team, we have been approached by several diving contractors, as well as oil and gas operators, to provide additional subsea operational support. This has led Alan and his technical team to complete the aforementioned project, then onto a second subsea project, located in Liverpool Bay, UK, to completion, including the offshore phase and demobilisation. He has been an excellent addition to the team and has given our clients further confidence in the Company”.
Peter Robertson has been with Namaka Subsea for two years as a Diving Technical Advisor supporting the project team and has previously held positions within the industry such as Assistant Technical Support Superintendent and Diving Technical Supervisor.
Peter has experience of the re-fit and re-classification of DSV’s as well as the development and implementation of DSV planned maintenance systems, helping the diving contactor meet IMCA and classification society requirements.
Sandy Harper, Director, said “It is great to have Pete onboard full time with the team as he brings years of technical experience including diving system re-fit and build, project management and engineering. I personally look forward to working with Pete again, having worked with him previously over the years”..
